Post it Note Tuesday Oct 11th

When you feel powerless, remember that you share about 50% of your DNA with tigers, and nobody who’s half tiger is ever completely powerless. it would not ALL fit on the note so I cropped a little :D Also I've crafted up a storm but I'd not been home much to write about it, except today, and that got eaten up by other life things! So I'll post more soon!

Make It Monday Sept 26th addition

So, I had a friend who had a Birthday.... And she hosted a "Tentacle and Tea" painting party.  A few cups of tea, and some paint later I had this elemental bad boy!

Now I know this is Tuesday, but I was not home at all yesterday I had an appointment to have someone drill into visible bone in my skull, and fill them with goop (yes, that means dentist)  FOLLOWED by a crafting day.  Let me tell you one of these things was the highlight, the other was not.
ADD to that the stress of having my van not want me to go to the dentist (hmmm.....)  It was a good day, after a rather crummy morning, but lunch things shifted.
So today is catch up on the blog of blogging.

I am not the best painter ever, I had chances to learn this skill but I never did take my Great Grandmother up on most of the painting, and most of the time I just "played" with watercolor.  This one is acrylic paints, and I had fun making it so that is what matters, right? ALSO, the dang blogger turned it to the left the tree is supposed to be top for North.  (Which in turn reminds me of a conversation that was had yesterday, about elements and placement and traditions...)  and of course the picture doesn't do the golds and silvers any justice, these metallic paints ROCKED

Make It Monday Sept 19th Utility Belt

THE PATTERN

I must admit I got it because I follow a Facebook group here.  It is a group that lets you "in" on sales and freebies.  So when a designer offers one up you can find out about it!  I've increased my Ravelry library immensely since joining.  Sometimes I get cool things such as the above or things like this little cutie that is on sale until Sept 19, 2016 adorable froggy (Sorry, not sorry I'm really excited I got this one today :P )

So, when I went to FaerieWorlds they were selling these awesome belts that offered "purse free" options.  That would have been awesome to have at the time, but for some reason I didn't see fit to just BUY one there, it is a decision I question often LOL.  That is until I got the pattern for this one!

I have ends to weave in, buttons to sew on, and beads to add but I wanted to get SOMETHING up on here to show what I've been working on.  The Yellow "feather"  I accidentally made 2 of, so it became an athame pouch (I lined it with craft foam for protection)  SO MANY ends to weave though... UGH.  So I'm going to get back to that.

This time I wanted something to take to Hekate's Sickle Fest, that is being put on by the Aquarian Tabernacle Church (ATC) in October.  I doubt I'll have my knife with me, but... I can use it in circles later *grin*  So far I am REALLY happy with how it is turning out!

Practical Magic Book Vs Movie (Old blog copy) for a TBT!

Thursday, August 23, 2012

Most people will agree that most of the time the book is better than  the movie adaptation.  In the case of Practical Magic, I really felt that the movie was better, that is NOT to say that the book is not good, it really is quite a good read.  How else would I have read for nearly 13 hours straight!  Breaks of course for driving, eating and food prep and other kid care.  I started it when we went in to test my 6yo son for first grade readiness. around 11am and I finished it up around 12:30 am the next "morning".  I really thought it was off to a great start of a book love affair, in the first chapter describing the Aunt's home, I LOVED how it was described.  Shortly into the book I realized it was a whole different animal.  Now the whole different animal thing is something that I am very much used to.  I have read and watch True Blood/ Southern Vampire Mysteries.  They have HUGE differences in those, and I am able to take each individually without liking one over the other.
And in some ways it is the same case with this book and movie combo.  There were some things that I liked in the book, like the change in scenery, even though at the same time, I missed the old scene.  I find that I agree with most of the negative reviews on Amazon.  Yet, I would not go post the same things, because I really did enjoy the book, but I certainly enjoyed the movie much, much more!

So when I woke up, I made my coffee and I watched one of my favorite witchy movies!  Although, I did find that it is currently paused about halfway through, I guess I needed to catch up on some of that housework that I neglected yesterday.  I worked on the boys' room, which with 3 boys is a HUGE chore to undertake, and I am still not done with it! ARGH!  Every time I say "Never again" to no avail.   I have had a running to do list and I am getting most of that list done each day, so I refuse to beat myself up over a few things carrying over to the next.  It will all be there tomorrow.

Post it Note Tuesday Sept 13

call it a "fringe benefit"  This is coming from a recent body mod addition HAHAHA
So, I got a tattoo on my "road map of a belly" I have 5 kids, including twins.  Twins caused an umbilical hernia that was repaired a few years ago.  I'm on a reclaiming mission of sorts.  See, I don't mind some things.  My body has allowed me to have 5 kids, including twins with 0 c-sections, all had good weights
7# 14 oz
6# 15 oz
6# 8 oz and 6# 9 oz (twabies)
7# 8oz
a few stretch marks is a small price to pay for no NICU time, and 5 healthy babies!  I know how lucky I am!  BUT that didn't mean I LIKED the after effects! okay?  We have been on a journey through times of me crying over my stomach that once was.  I didn't have medical insurance at the time of the hernia at the worst, so I didn't see HOW it would be fixed.  I was able to live with it for a few years, until the pain started.  I could not go grocery shopping without being sore the next day, from the weight of the cart.  So, I finally went in to the local low cost clinic, and the doctor got me set up with a program that did surgeries for people who needed help.  There was just a waiting period.  The wait was not too long either I was very surprised.
My surgeon got a stethoscope cover and a rice bag that I knit/crocheted/made (I had to sew the inner rice bag) for him as a THANK YOU gift.  That was the step one in this process.  Step 2 I think came with getting on some thyroid meds, I've lost a little weight that was not going anywhere no matter how active I was. step two is a really minor step though as it really doesn't bug me too much except specific areas *ahem "tummy mustache" (aka "twin skin" that is not going anywhere with out another surgery, and it isn't THAT bad that I feel like I need that)
And you may have noticed that some quotes have come from "The Body Sacred" by Dianne Sylvan, and I've been reading that book along with a few others at a lovely snail pace.  (or maybe a slug pace?)
Anyway last week I got a call from a friend saying he was hosting a tattoo party,  And I had been joking for a few years about how "I needed a compass rose around the belly button to match the road map" part humor, and part making a pretty out of something I've had a terrible relationship over the past few years.
Odd things happened.
1.  I don't know if I was projecting or what, but I could feel the LOVE that was going into the tattoo as it was being made.  Does it matter if it was all ME thinking that way?  NOPE no one bit!
2.  Now I am forced to care in a way that still didn't quite happen after the surgery (it was laparoscopic, so minimal scars) Now I'm gently washing and lovingly applying lotion.  This is an area that I've largely tried to pretend did not exist for the past 10-15 years.
3.  It was a big DEEP breath in order to show the doctor and surgeon when I was trying to get a medical procedure done.  It was a big deep breath to show the tattoo artist too, but of course getting a tattoo.... no one walks by going "nah I don't want to see!"  THEY WANT TO SEE.  You know what?  Nobody was critical.  Well, save for a friend who was critical of a line (that was done the way it was on purpose, and I don't think she realized that)  So, basically with my joke of "if you see my stomach, you may as well see me naked"  I'm game for some skyclad rituals (only half kidding) It has been a bit conflicting!  I want to show it off, and not at the same time!
4.  I'm still not ready to share on public forums or anything (sorry)  but I'm slowly contacting people who I think will appreciate it.  I was a teen who could not GAIN weight but grew up around a family with BBW's so I was very big into the body acceptance, but I know it isn't easy either! (If the men I knew had issues I was not privy to them)
5.  Getting ink didn't turn my tummy into a Victoria's Secret model, BUT it is an improvement in my mind.  AND I did it FOR ME so who the fuck cares what others think, or "what it will look like when you are 80?"  (it will look badass BTW)  This is one I sort of struggled with prior to getting the tattoo, because stomach's are the most likely to change.  Fact is I'll have other things to worry about and had too many years under my belt to care at 80.

SO in conclusion
If you hate your toes, give yourself a pedicure.
If you hate your skin, get some fancy lotion and slather it on with LOVE.
If you hate your hair, look up some tips on your type and DO SOMETHING new to it.
acne?  Start a new skin care routine.
Do your makeup (only if you can do it with LOVE though, if you are only doing it to hide the "flaws" start with CARE)
if you loved to dance but stopped because you didn't fit the mold.... DANCE IT OUT!

you get the idea.
Some things are easier to ignore than others.  I could/can hide my stomach pretty easily, but a port wine stain may be harder.  Everyone is in a different place at the start.
I find it funny that I didn't apply this thinking earlier, since one of the things that are in Marie Kondo's books is the idea that if an item DOESN'T bring you joy, you lavish it with praise.  It is all about changing your mind set. Why should that NOT apply to the skin you are in?
I'll close with another item that could be a post it note, or five:

"Blessed be thy feet, that have brought thee in these ways
Blessed be thy knees, that shall kneel at the sacred altar.
Blessed be thy [womb/phallus], without which we would not be
Blessed be thy breasts, formed in [beauty/strength]
Blessed be thy lips, that shall utter the Sacred Names."

Post It Note Tuesday- Sept 06, 2016

https://forestdoor.wordpress.com/2016/09/01/are-you-up-for-the-challenge/
I'm up for it!  Honestly, this has been a pet peeve of mine.  "Hi I'm (tradition x)!  here is a list of things I DON'T do" with NOTHING on what IS DONE!

Ironically, this blog has come up a lot in the past few days.  I didn't notice this until now though.  It was posted on the 1st of September so who knows.

Make It Monday- Runes!

We are back with the wood burner again this time!  Last fall, I found a few down branches and had my Grandfather cut them into rounds via band saw.  Around the same time I had 2 larger branches turned into Yule log candle holders.  That was via drill press *grin*  I had planned on making them into some runes, and I had hoped that I'd have smaller ones, but the small ones only yielded about 21 slices.  A larger branch had about 30 or so, so that is what we are using today.
The ones on the right!

Starting to burn
I use this site when I am making runes, I like the charts and info they have.  There is even some more detailed instructions on how to make your own set.  Including a bit of blood to stain them red, around here, if my husband is making runes you can bet your ass they are getting some blood, intentional or not.  Myself, I've not been so "lucky" However I have an aversion to pricking my own finger from watching years of my diabetic Great Grandmother HAVE to.  Also I'm not 100% sure I'm keeping them for myself (they may end up Yule-ing to someone else!) So, why would I use MY blood if they are not going to be mine?
fronts, and a few backs
They are not meant to be capital "P" perfect (I like them better when they are NOT)  I decorated the backs with a little 8 spoke sun wheel type sigil.  That MIGHT have been a mistake on the first one, and I just made it work ;)  Now I have to figure out how/if I'm going to seal them.  I probably will somehow since the bark is coming off in some spots.

And expect more, since I have the smaller "set" and some spares of the larger ones, that I plan to make some ornaments with!  But that one requires the use of a drill *cackles* So I can thread some ribbon.

August Break Aug 31-August was...

Mostly August was kind of BUSY.  With Many Gods West at the beginning, and school getting started at the end.  There were many challenges, but also a lot of fun!

My oldest Daughter painted me this.

adventures in Indigo...

I saw this... had to take a pic because it was funny

This is Charmander, a blue tailed skink, my daughter found him in her room, but he wasn't eating so he was released...  but, he kind of got out of my daughters hands, ran under the rolling cart, and came out to find Sasha.... So he now will have to regrow his tail, but he is outside and safe now!  She didn't get to finish the job ><

the results of adventures in indigo, it is more of a chestnut brown than this picture lets on REALLY pretty!  First henna, then rinse, then we did indigo.

August Break Aug 30- Evening Light

The kids just started school and I was feeling lazy.  So this is a tad late.  but here ya go!

Post it Note Tuesday Aug 30 2016

This is again from Dianne Sylvan's The Body Sacred.

August Break- Day 29- Favorite mug(s)

because, you can't make the Queen of indecisivitits choose just one!
Am I having tea? or coffee?  that will help tell which mug I want! LOL
The orange one was a gift at a Yule swap, the "With enough coffee anything is possible" came as a freebie from Shutterfly, and has pictures on it.  The "I'll croak till I get my Coffee" one was one my Grandma brought me from a trip.  And the silver cauldron-y one, is one from TJ Maxx that was on clearance for $4 that one kind of becomes a "ritual" cup, if I want special tea!  since it has a saucer too.

August Break Day 28 - I am....

So this is a day late, but this is what I did yesterday. I waited for, and then built this:
never mind my open pantry doors in the background....
It is called the "Meower Tower"  the kitties needed something to have as their own.  Now the training to scratch it (I've had posts and the like but never a full cat tree)  Sasha, fortunately will work for treats!

August Break Day 27 - Little

Last year at Manito, a duckling.

at one point we had 4 cats,  Wisp (dilute calico, S'more regular calico, Snowbell the cream tabby, and Jessica regular tabby)

these were some of the tiny kittens,  We are pretty sure one Mom didn't make it through labor, we saw her have one kitten then they all disappeared until we found this.  Notice how much bigger 2 of them are.  S'more tried to take care of them all but none of the little ones made it.  These were Wisp's and S'more's kittens.

My kitties now are just indoor only.  Though there are some of the outdoor only barn cats too.  It helps to have them around

August Break Day 26- Oranges- I don't have oranges!

Aren't my melons nice?
I have these!  They are orange inside, so it counts, right?  Funny story, *I* knew who it was when the truck stopped by the house.  Living here around the Hutterites it is common for them to drop by this season with extra YUMMIES!  The kids were all outside, playing.  When a random truck pulls in and the guy says "hop in grab from that box"  LOL  The kids didn't, so this is a GOOD thing!  However it was the Hutterite guy with cantaloupes for us.  A side effect of our house being the only one for years, my Great Grandfather used to have them over a lot, and they were invited to the Christmas events and able to have meals with them on occasion.  Times change a little bit, My Grandparents don't quite have the same relations, though there are still some there.  My younger Uncle does have some connections farm to farm so to speak.  I hear there is corn too....  Wonderful corn that will ruin store corn for you hahaha.  Also maybe a reason I'm kind of stuck in old style farm in my mind.  I see cows at pasture, I've called when one gets loose.  Once we watched a cow squeeze through the fence and do the cow version of a happy dance and smile when she got the grass she wanted on that other side!  Kind of like this:

minus the horns and she was a Holstein so black and white.  Funny thing though, BEING out here, and seeing this "farm life" that DOES line up nicely with the wheel of the year.  Early Feb, we do start to see calves. Watched the water break on one cow this year!  We could go to town, and there would be more babies when we came home, early August means wheat harvest, and corn too, apparently.  (I've never had luck growing corn here at home) The micro climate here is a bit cooler than where they grow the corn.  That is my theory anyway!

August Break-Day 25-Peaceful

a feather, and the first signs of fall!

This is "Fred" OR "Branchfur" depending on who you ask.  He's a mostly feral Tom, who showed up just before one winter YEARS ago.  My Uncle started giving him some food, so he sticks around.  He will let you pet him IF there is food in it for him, but he won't come up to you otherwise, and runs if you get near.

this one... I'm pretty sure that the camera snapped on it's own, but I'm going to embrace it!

August Break-Day 24- Three

Our 3 cottonwood trees!  "Daddy, Mommy, and Baby tree!

The angle to get all three makes one end up seeming
smaller than it actually is though it IS still the smallest of them!
ignore the shadow of a finger LOL

Post It Note Tuesday Aug 23

August Break Day 23- My Face

I wasn't really looking forward to this one!  I'm not really a selfie fan, I mean I do them as needed when there are not others to take pictures, Who am I kidding, I fall into the category of those who don't generally like pictures of myself!  No they are never truly bad, but I don't really like them as much as I should.  There are exceptions of course!
JUST took this one, you can tell Sasha is so into the selfie!
This is one of my favorite selfies, Ironically I had JUST got the glasses so I wasn't sure how I felt about that part, hence the look.  This was July of last year.  Pre Henna

August Break-Day 22- Squares

I KNEW this one was going to be a doodle! *this post contains an affiliate links*
technically not all "square" since most of it is freehand and wobbly, but I'm not terribly picky on this.  Sure I could have made them more square but that kind of defeats the zentangle purpose.
I got to experiment with different pens this time, after an ink smudge my Daughter took pity on me and got her Sakura 30062 6-Piece Pigma Micron Ink Pen Set, Black that she got as a gift at Yule/ Christmas.  I learned that I don't like the Pilot Neo-Gel ball point  for this, even if that is what they gave at the library.  I'm also seeing more of Sharpie Pens, Fine Point, Black, Box of 12 in my future I LOVE the Sharpie pens!  BUT I do find I don't do cursive in them, my default with a ball point LOL

For the tangles however, they and the Micron ROCK!

Make it Monday Aug 22nd Crochet coasters FREE pattern

Naturally I didn't get a picture, but this was part of the Wedding gift!
My adaptation of some I made from another pattern.  Since I made a few of the other pattern I kind of knew what I was doing so I just went with it

For the gift I did them using acrylic camo yarn, as they are both hunters.  Bud did I take a picture of them?  Nope I forgot to do so!  So I will have to make another one for you lovely dear readers.

What I use the coasters for is telling who's cup belongs to whom (Is that right I rarely if ever, as in NEVER, use whom LOL)  this makes it so I don't have an endless chain of cups going to the dishwasher.  Well, that is the THEORY.  So I make mine in various colors so the children can tell what coaster is theirs :D  I picked up a few "real" coasters at the $1 store too, for my oldest, and for myself and my husband.  They ended up being desk coasters though.

For these coasters though, you can call them mug mats, or even use them for candles, or other magic(k)al uses.  Dress up your altar, and make one in corresponding colors for the elements, I'm sure you can come up with ways to use them outside of just a coaster (even a dish scrubbie!)my "test" is me making a few of these, if you have issues please leave a comment!  Feel free to sell, gift or whatever with whatever YOU make, but don't sell this pattern (besides it is BASIC!!)

I used a "G" 4mm hook
and yarn, acrylic in the gift ones, but it is cotton here.  Worsted weight yarn.

Round 1:  make a magic ring or chain 5
11 DC in the ring or first chain join with a slip stitch

Round 2: chain  3, DC in same stitch as join, 2 DC in each stitch around (24 DC)
Round 3: chain 3, 2DC in next stitch, then *1 DC in the next, 2 DC in fallowing stich* repeat * around. (36 stitches counting the ch 3)
Round 4:  Do NOT chain up, (this will count as your first slip stitch) *SKIP one stitch, 5 DC in the 2nd stitch from hook, SKIP one stitch, Slip stitch in the next stitch* *Repeat around Join, with slip stitch at the beginning

Here:
the stitch I point to! connect them there!  think of it as crochetharmony.com!
Then, just weave in your ends and TADA!  you have a coaster, dish thingy, special face cloth, cauldron parking, etc.

As an alternate ending row if you don't want the scallop edge you can do a chain 3, DC in next stitch, 2 DC in fallowing stitch, DC in next 2 stitches and repeat that pattern around ending with a 2 DC in the last stitch. , then you can do a crab stitch (reverse single crochet) around if you want a little bit of decoration, have fun!

Come to think of it I think I may do a set of 7, as a  chakra set.....  Do I NEED this?  Nope, I have crystals I use for that too, but it may be FUN and add a great visualization for a laying down meditation.
Or, a wall hanging..... I feel another MiM coming on

Action shot!

August Break Day 21- Today is....or in this case tonight!

just a pretty moon shot, the camera never does justice... but I had to try anyway!  And it isn't terrible, pretty good actually for cell camera
This one was from the wedding yesterday (My Uncle got married)  there was a goose I was trying to photograph but you cannot really see.  Still a pretty view though!  Yes that is a greenhouse, it is an organic farm.  Plus we got to see 300, and 200, and 100 gallon vats full of wine in the making, because they added a winery to the farm too.  Technically, this was yesterday, BUT today is the first day for the new couple so I think it works.

August Break-day 20- Clouds

I was thinking this one would be hard, because we have been pretty cloudless lately!

clouds and the junk out back LOL

I think this is the best shot

August Break Day-19- My Hands

Paganism, X-men, and Politics, and a little Dr Seuss

I'm not too nerdy on this subject, I've only watched the animated series LOL  mainly the one on in the 90's and the movies of recent origin.  I never was a comic book "nerd".

But one thing I LOVE about the X-men, there really isn't a "bad" buy, there isn't really a true villain.  You object?  Sure, there are those who act as villains or the common enemy, but at the end of the day, even Apocalypse has a side.  Neither of those sides are totally evil.  I think this reflects to the modern day politics and the debates that go around the blogosphere.

One of my favorite moments is when Mystique and Nightcrawler are talking and Nightcrawler says "You can blend in, you can look however you want" (or something like that I'm paraphrasing here)
Mystique says "I shouldn't HAVE to" This goes into any sort of closet notion.  After all, America is supposed to be free right?  Rarely does it actually end up that way in practice though.  Here in this example we have someone on the "wrong" side making a incredibly valid point, and that happens ALL THE TIME.
Take another example, Magneto and Professor X's relationship, deep down they really get along, they are friends, at one point it was shown they really were good friends.  They just disagree on what is better for the perceived greater good, and HOW to go about that ideal.  Both are willing to fight for it.  Sound familiar?

X-Men uses neutral language to bring up topics that are "hush" around children, seeing things from the view of these characters that they grow to admire, but seeing how the mob mentality wants to shut them down out of fear.  It shows that things are not neat little boxes, and that it isn't black or white, instead many shades of grey.  Xavier teaches any mutant, he tries to guide down what he sees as the correct, or just path, but at the end of the day he doesn't stop anyone from going their own direction.  If they choose to do something different, the door is always open.  Maybe without the trust that was once given, but it is open.

You can't even blame Magneto for his position, he had a rough go of things.  With his powers coming via Nazi camp.  Still, he is blind to the fact that he is basically doing the same thing as seeing mutants as "greater than", the irony there is fascinating.  This sums up American politics IMO.  My side is better, yours is full of suck.  Polarize, divide and conquer.  Ignore the validity of the other side they are always wrong.  Absolutes are rarely how the world really works.

We've all seen it too with the new Pagan convert.  Or any time around Yule, when the "Christians STOLE the holiday"  followed up by "The WAR on Christmas."  Many, many blogs out there arguing over similar stances but varied praxis, disagreeing on the definition of a word, trying to enforce concepts that don't exist for other groups.  We all have our bias, we are not immune.

This idea that unless you are doing X you cannot be Y
Unless you are politically motivated you can't be Pagan
Unless you are a career woman, your not a TRUE feminist
Unless you do _______ (threefold law,  worship deity name, etc.) you are not Wiccan
Unless you are going to do your homework, you can't be a recon.  (the homework is never finished)
Unless you support THESE rights, in THIS manner you are working against us.
Don't use that word UNLESS......
If you don't support green energy, you are a bad Pagan.  Let's not talk about the birds/bats that are killed by wind and solar energy, m'kay?**
Either abortion has to be on demand, or outlawed, setting restrictions is placing you in one bin or the other.  You know, Pro-Life or Pro-Choice.  Even Pro-Life can be challenged when it is their own teen daughter, Pro Choice, when it is your best friend and you can't have kids.
Just a few attitudes I have encountered.  I find nuance, and I've been called ignorant for it.  HA.

Differing views/actions are dismissed, as being "not really one of us".
I can think of instances where these are totally true, well, some of them anyway! Some I emphasize and I'm sure there are those that will read this and miss that point, because text is terrible on some forms of communication.

This we can see in examples of the discussion on "cultural appropriation"*  I shudder to think how it would have went when I was 5 or 6 and dressed as a Native American for Halloween.  At that tender age I truly was appreciating a side of my family, that I knew little about but I knew existed.  My Great Grandmother was quick to point out that her Middle name was Wanita, "spelled the Native American way."  Yet, I was taken back when they said I was dressed up as a "Squaw"
From their perspective it meant a Native Woman, as that was how it was used while they were growing up (20's-30's, I think)  These days colleges are banning insensitive costumes (some I agree with) but I've seen the flip side where a white student wearing dreadlocks is accosted.  Or a "white" girl with a tan is accused of "Blackface" in quotes because while it may be a spray tan, she can acquire that tan in natural sunlight, Gods forbid you decide to go the skin safe(r) route!
You can see examples in feminism, SAHM?  Letting down feminism!  Want to focus on career?  Didn't we fight to "have it all?"
Pagan and worship the Greek Gods?  you are going to upset someone (this works for other cultures too)
You cannot win for losing!

I find myself thinking of this particular principle of Wiccan Belief (copy pasted):

"4. We conceive of the Creative Power in the universe as manifesting through polarity-as masculine and feminine-and that this same Creative Power lies in all people, and functions through the interaction of the masculine and feminine. We value neither above the other, knowing each to be supportive of the other. We value sex as pleasure, as the symbol and embodiment of life, and as one of the sources of energies used in magickal practice and religious worship."

BUT polarity doesn't mean there isn't a spectrum, there are Gods and Goddesses of War, and of Love.  Of Civilization, and of the Wild.  Of health of of pestilence..... and ALL which is between.  There are things to consider on all accounts,

*this is in quotes because while there are real concerns, there are the examples I list.  Don't believe me?  Google it!
** Renewable energy is on the whole good, but if we are going to be upset about dolphins caught in tuna nets, the birds killed by green energy is just as valid.  Hint: 300,000 dolphins compared to 500,000 birds/bats and you can opt out of tuna.  opting out of the power grid is much more difficult.

an interesting read I found while researching, not on topic per se, other than the cultural appropriation bit, but interesting

and I finish with this:  Seems the Lorax lives on the fence of the butter battle

Even Dr Seuss being a liberal Democrat, supported Japanese Internment camps.  Food for thought.  He overcame that thought, AFTER but it still stands as a good point, I think.

August Break Day 18- 5 years ago

So, I don't have any easily accessible pictures from 5 years ago.  All would have to be scanned or added via non existent SD card port on my computer (that was an oversight when purchasing...)  I have some in a digital photo frame but I have no way to transfer them to this computer LOL
We are going to settle for 4 years ago okay?  I probably have some on a thumb drive somewhere too but meh....

Here is mine :D
I could have toyed with different angles or taking the fan out... but... it is AUGUST and I don't have central A/C so the fan stays LOL
I was happy enough with the picture so it stays too
